Legacy Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) Resolution, North America

Pre- and post-acquisition contaminant release conditions were investigated for global chemical sector portfolios of raw material sources, primary processing sites, product formulation plants, intermodal port/landside facilities, and supply chain networks across North America. Endpoint-focused assessments tailored and implemented to each asset’s technical and regulatory requirements resulted in more than $7M of ARO savings going directly to our clients’ bottom lines.

While significantly reducing pre-existing environmental reserve allocations for all client assets, careful analysis of potential human/ecological risks and contaminant fate/transport behaviors within locally complex hydrogeological regimes resulted in more effective project execution and optimal compliance fulfillment. Once clearly defined and streamlined ARO compliance pathways were mapped, we collaborated with our clients, interested parties, local communities, lead agencies, and technical experts to bring these legacy sites to final closure.
